According to the latest data from INSEE (France's statistical and economic data research institute) of a total of 68 million French residents, 8.8 million of them are categorized as poor. 

The criteria used are those with incomes of less than 1050€ per month.

Half of these poor people have a standard profile that is; young people who still live with the elderly, part-time workers, are not highly educated, single parents, and live in large urban areas (around it). 

The increase in poverty is caused by a decrease in the quality of life of the lower middle generation who can no longer follow standards.

France's poor get money from the government, get food aid from social associations, access free medical treatment, and are not subject to income taxes.

The daily life of France's poor
